Initial Setup and Daily Maintenance

For a freshly filled spa, superchlorinate by adding 20g of EXTRA per 1,000L of spa water. Ensure the water circulates for at least one hour before use. Check that the free available chlorine level is between 3.0 - 5.0 ppm.

Maintain a daily chlorine level of 10g per 1,000L, adjusting as needed based on usage and test results.

Testing Water Quality:

Regularly test the water using a reliable testing kit to maintain:

  • Free available chlorine: 3.0 - 5.0 ppm
  • pH: 7.2 - 7.8
  • Total alkalinity: 125 - 150 ppm
  • Calcium hardness: 150 – 200 ppm

Feeding Devices:

If using an automatic feeder, load with EXTRA tablets and adjust the flow rate to maintain proper chlorine residual. Alternatively, tablets can be placed in the spa skimmer basket.

Addressing Water Issues:

If you notice persistent foam, turbidity, or odor, superchlorinate by adding 30g of EXTRA per 1,000L of spa water. Circulate for at least one hour and wait four hours before using, ensuring the chlorine level is appropriate.

Superchlorination Notes:

Monitor the stabilizer levels (cyanuric acid) to remain within 30-100 ppm, adjusting by diluting with fresh water as necessary. Be aware that superchlorination can affect total alkalinity, so keep this within the recommended range.

Regular Draining:

Drain and refill the spa periodically to ensure optimal sanitation and water quality.
