How To Care For Your Hot Tub Jets
Maintenance is key to preserving and protecting any hot tub in Toronto and Southern Ontario. From balancing the water to cleaning the hardware and hot tub accessories, everything you do to care for your hot tub enhances its functionality, keeping it in good shape for the next use. Hot tub jets are one part of the hot tub that can hide dirt but often ends up forgotten when it comes to cleaning. With help from the Seaway Pools & Hot Tubs team and our high-quality hot tub supplies, you can clear your jets for a more sanitary and soothing soak.
Here's how you can care for your hot tub jets.
How Do Hot Tub Jets Get Dirty
After each use, jets do accumulate debris. If you've been using your hot tub regularly, especially if more people are in it, the jets may eventually become clogged. Food crumbs, outdoor debris, oils from perfume, or soap will linger in your hot tub after it's used and will dirty the jets. If jets become too dirty, they can become clogged, and they will either stop working or won't work as well. To ensure your jets are clean and working efficiently, contact a professional for hot tub maintenance to thoroughly clean your jets and hot tub.
Signs Hot Tub Jets Are Dirty
If your hot tub starts to smell when you turn on the jets, that's the biggest indicator that you need your jets cleaned. Additionally, little black flakes may appear in your water due to bacteria and dirty jets. If your hot tub water is foggy or cloudy, that's also a sign that it isn't working well or needs to be cleaned or replaced. Removing Your Hot Tub Jets
If you need to clean your hot tub jets, the first order of business is to drain your hot tub and remove your jets. To remove them, most jets can simply be temporarily removed by turning them counterclockwise and pulling them out. This will allow you to closely assess the condition of the jets, clean them more thoroughly, or replace them if necessary.
Cleaning Your Jets
Once your jets are removed, it's time to clean them. Soak them in a cleaning agent you can get from Seaway Pools & Hot Tubs to eliminate any debris. If you are unable to remove your hot tub jets, there are other ways to clean your jets. Drain your hot tub until the water is just below the jets, add your hot tub cleaning kit, and turn on the jets. Let them run for around fifteen minutes to ensure all debris and dirt is out of the jets. Then, switch off the jets, drain the tub, and fill it back up.
Replacing Your Hot Tub Jets
Sometimes, your jets need to be replaced. If they start to make strange noises, leak or have stopped working, you may need to contact a professional to see if they need to be replaced.
